I had a chance to do some sketching while up the coast so here ya go.

This sketch was done on a beach where my son was chasing waves!

The big aquarium of sea kelp at the Monterey Bay aquarium.
These next two are dear to me becuase my son and wife were having such a wonderful time swinging together on the playground near the hotel. there's a simplicity to the moment of joy my son had while swinging by himself. We should all be so lucky.

beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDave these are all great, but the bottom two are extraordinary! They're some of favorite sketches I've seen you do.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful sketches. I especially love the third one of your son on the swing; a lovely story being told in that one.

ReplyDeletethanks guys.
Awesome sketches Dave, love the energy, and simplicity in which you were able to catch such emotion =]
ReplyDeletewonderful sketches! very dynamic!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sketches, Dave. Wow, does every kid instinctively do that chest-down-in-the-swing, dragging-feet-in-the-dirt thing? I know I did.
ReplyDeleteDiego swinging has so much story.Very Emotional.
ReplyDeleteI love these kind of sketches.
ReplyDeleteHey, wow--I'll just pile on, shall I?
ReplyDeleteThese are tops!
Diego is going to pore over these when he's, say, 40, you know that? It gives me such a warm, wistful feeling to think that...kids of an artist have an extra-special gift in their parents(that's assuming their parents are really into them, of course). The same goes for the photos people take...back when I was a kid, 899% of families just took lousy pics without too muct thought; the ones I see (photos) of kids by our generation strike me as so much more emotional and introspective.
And the others ain't bad either! ; )
Your drawings are fantastic, sir! My favorites are of your family.
ReplyDeleteDrawing the people you love always brings out the most sincere impressions.
Very inspiring!
Hope all is well!
